Here's another tool for the serious road warrior. The Brookstone Laptop Essentials Kit has handy dandy travel kit with all sorts of travel essentials for laptop computers -- including a Skype-capable "headset". The kit includes:
- USB numeric keypad
- Optical mouse with retractable cord
- Gooseneck USB light
- 4-port USB hub
- 3.5? retractable high-speed Internet cable
- Skype-capable earbuds with integrated microphone?
I bought the kit about a year and a half ago and continue to use most of it. The mouse gave out after a while, but I simply replaced it with a similar one. The USB hub came apart after minimal use, but it hasn't been the most important part of the kit for me.
I like the way that the kit packs up and fits neatly in my computer case. I like the feel of the mouse -- and the fact that it has a retractable cord. I have been really grateful for the Skype-capable earbud headset, which has worked very well for Skype as well as for watching movies or listening to my iTunes?on my Macbook -- especially on planes or trains.
It's nice, too, to have the retractable ethernet cord. In this day and age of wi-fi, I don't need ethernet cables that often -- but when I do, there it is in a very small and efficient package. And that little gooseneck lamp has come in handing on more than one occasion when I want to use my laptop in rooms with very low light.
All in all, I've been very pleased and it's been a $50 investment that has been worthwhile.
