My choice for Favorites on Friday (FoF) this week is bittersweet.
There is a lecture series at Carnegie-Mellon University (CMU) called "The Last Lecture"?where professors are invited to give a hypothetical "last lecture".
Professor Randy Pausch?, who was involved in the innovative Alice project, was actually dying of complictions from pancreatic cancer as he delivered his "last lecture" and it has become one of the most viewed on the Internet. Professor Pausch passed away today at the age of 47.
If you have about an hour (perhaps outside of work, if necessary), I encourage you to consider watching Professor Pausch's inspiring lecture.
The experience of giving this lecture led Pausch to write a book with writer Jeffrey Zaslow?called?"The Last Lecture".?
Pausch made surprise return to campus a few months ago to deliver another six-minute speech -- just as inspirational -- at the CMU commencement ceremony on May 18, 2008, which is also on YouTube. Rest In Peace (RIP), Randy Pausch. Thank you for your inspiration and example. Blessings and peace to your family and friends from the millions of people you have touched.
