I've found it's almost impossible to find clear and concise information on how to create/change/update an existing Facebook Profile or Page URL into a "pretty" URL.
Because Profiles and Pages are indexed on search engines, many people would prefer to have a URL of their choosing -- instead of having the default URLs with unwieldy strings of numbers that are impossible to remember!
NOTE: Think and choose carefully! Once your change/update your URL you cannot change it again. At this time, Facebook allows a one-time change only -- and it must be a choice that is not being used by someone else.
So how do you change your URL? It's amazingly simple.
Login into Facebook and then go to this link:
http://www.facebook.com/username/
Follow the instructions from there.

Kevin, unfortunately Facebook only allows one choice -- which is why it pays to carefully consider your page URL. At this time, once you\'ve changed it, it cannot be changed again.

At this time, FB allows only one change to a URL. One change only. Be aware that your boyfriend is the only person who should change his URL, if that\'s what he wants to do. If someone other than the profile owner gains access to an account and changes anything in that account, FB can terminate the offenders account.
You can set a group-email address that becomes the URL after a few minutes...

I can\'t get past this page that asks that I Confirm a Phone Number. I tried using my cell phone, because you have to receive an SMS in order to get a confirmation code, and that didn\'t work. I then tried another person\'s cell in our marketing department and that also didn\'t do the trick. How do I proceed past the Confirm a Phone Number page?
That\'s a very good question! First, I would make sure that you have one mobile phone number set up / connected to your personal Facebook profile/account. If you haven\'t done this already, I don\'t think \"confirming\" a phone number will work. My best recommendation is to always use a standard computer connection (desktop or laptop) to change a FB URL. This is more reliable than a mobile connection. And it\'s possible that FB does not allow changes to URLs via mobile connections at this time.

If you are trying to change the page URL using a mobile phone, it may not work. I don\'t think Facebook is allowing URL changes via mobile phone at this time. Try changing the URL by using a connection from a desktop or laptop computer with an ethernet or wifi connection to the Internet.

Unfortunately, you are stuck with it.
At this time, Facebook does not allow you to change your URL more than once. This is why they tell you to be *very* careful when you go through the process. The only way that you can change this is for your to delete your current Facebook personal profile (you should download all your profile information and assets - like pictures, etc. before you do that...) and then start from scratch by creating a new profile using a different email address.
Facebook *actually sent me a message saying my URL did not match my profile name and allowed me to change it. They gave me 3 suggestions based on my name. It was totally erroneous that I picked that URL. I thought I was working from a conference page I had built. Yes! Success!

When did facebook contact you about the different names? I just accidentally changed my url (as per requested by my cousin) and didn\'t notice that it was permanent until it was too late.
Facebook doesn\'t contact you. You need to know what you\'re doing and follow the directions.

Sorry you don\'t believe me, but fb really did send me a message that said exactly what I said in my original post. My URL is changed. Doesn\'t look like any of the suggestions you\'ve been giving people has worked. I thought I was stuck. Has anyone else received that message from fb about your URL not matching your profile name?

If Facebook is reporting that your username has already been set, then you may not be able to make any changes.

You should be able to use the same URL to change a page URL.
I like this option but a little concerned before changing. If there are already links on other websites into my Facebook page using the \'original long version\' url as the link reference, do these links need changing if you alter your url to a \'preferred shorter version\' or will the links automatically forward into the new url - therefore still link into your Facebook page under with the new version url?
Facebook usually automatically redirects the original URL to your new URL.
I changed the url of my facebook fan site for my one time. But now when I try to search for my band in the search at the top of facebook and I find my band it still directs people to the old url and gives an error message page saying:
\"You may have clicked an expired link or mistyped the address. Some web addresses are case sensitive.\"

I wanna use that same url for my fan page.

As far as I know, you cannot \"move\" a FB URL from a personal profile to a fan page. You need to choose a different URL for your fan page. Be careful. You can only change the URL one time.

I\'ve looked at the URLs you included above. The final version you listed is the one that works. It is possible that FB temporarily used the first version as you changed the URL. But it\'s working correctly now!

Does anybody know if you can change the Facebook URL for two pages with the same admin? I created two pages with my Facebook account and I was able to change the URL for the first one following these steps, but when I am trying to change the second one it says that this page is not eligible now! You should be able to change the URL on multiple pages that share an admin. I\'ve been able to do it. Hint: If possible, make sure that every page has at least two admins. It\'s extra security in case something happens to one of the admins or their Facebook account. Glad you found the information useful!
Like a person mentioned above - I had never changed my username (not even the once that was SUPPOSED to be allowed). But as the other person mentioned, Facebook has \'set\' my username (my name1) and did not give me the \'one chance\' option to change it
This is unfair as others have been allowed to change theirs \'once\' . So beware, you might not ALL be able to change your username (even once).
Can the URL of a facebook group be changed. I know this question has been asked before but I am hoping for an update or a change.
