Tech Tip: Using Google as a currency converter and calculator

by Ruth Sylte · 3 comments

Did you know that you can use the Google search screen as an easy calculator and currency converter?

Just type in your request to the main search screen. Some examples:

  • 5+2*2
  • sqrt(-4)
  • 3 meters in feet
  • 500 dollars to euros
  • 5 GBP in yen

Try it. Google has made it easy!

  2. Yes. I exactly don\'t know when it really started, but this function really helps me as I deal with some sort of calculations in my daily routine.
And what I noticed is that it even converts the currency rates and shows exact conversion rate while converting currencies.

  3. The same also applies for google translate. If you have a piece of text you want translated into your native language just paste it in the search bar and put translate to (native language) ie english, and google will put this into its translate tool automatically and show you the result. Handy tools :)
